ABOUT KC Threads - Est. 2016

I am a mum of 2 girls located in Mackay, Queensland. I was brought up in a car-loving family that was deeply involved in drag racing and then the hot rodding community. Weekends were spent at the drag strip, speedway, cruising around in old school cars, joing in on club meetings and events or tinkering in the shed with my dad. 

When I got my license, I was never going to be a girl with a 'normal' car. My first ride was a cream coloured convertable Morris Minor, the cutest little car you have ever seen. For my grade 12 Home Ecconomics assesment I made seat covers out of a retro quilt cover for my Morry, she was my pride and joy. After I turned 18, a family friend put his 1973 LJ Torana on the market, an ex 90's show car, painted a pretty metalic pink, I had to have it. After a test drive and with my Dad's blessing, she was all mine! My new daily driver, a bright pink, 2 door LJ Torana. It wasn't long before my Dad decided to swap out the 186 and do a V6 conversion on the Torry to make her more reliable. I have photos somewhere of me helping pull the old motor out, drop the new motor in and I remember posting the first start up video on youtube. After meeting my now husband and getting a new daily driver the Torana became a weekend car, fast forward to 2013 she was pulled down and given a new lease on life by some close friends we had made in the car commuinty. Rust repairs, and a new pink paint colour, she was back together in time for my Dad to drive me to my wedding ceremony.

Fast forward another couple years and we welcomed our first baby, a little girl we named Kacey. Before she was even born my dad had purchased her a couple different peddal cars (the inspo for my first KC Threads logo). What insipired me to start KC threads was the lack of small car shirts you could buy, at events and shows most shirts started at size 4, so I got to designing and made shirts for our bub to wear to car events. Kacey went through treatment for ALL when she was 2 and for a period I used KC Threads to make cancer support shirts for The Bravery Box and other oncology families. 

Then in 2021 we welcomed another baby girl, who we named Charli. So now I have 2 car mad girls, Charli loves mum's pink torrie but Kacey is now obsessed with Dad's dodge dart because it has more horsepower and goes faster she says. I have decided to get back into designing car culture shirts as I am passionate about cars and girls showing their love for cars! I feel like KC Threads is still so fitting as I named it after Kacey but now it stands for Kacey + Charli Threads.
